Dull skin is never a good look for us ladies. Facial toners support the skin’s natural processes of cleansing and renewal, minimising the appearance of pores, balancing moisture and oil content and leaving skin looking and feeling healthy, toned and radiant. A facial toner is the ideal daily care product for normal, dry and sensitive skin, as well as skin that is in need of regeneration. Thus these facial mists recipes will keep you looking cool and will give your skin the pick-me-up it needs while helping to restore moisture and tone brightening the skin.
By using just a few ingredients, you can give your skin an added health boost without spending a fortune. Here are some of my favourite recipes:

KNOWN EFFECTS would love to introduce you to Joanne, the face behind Zuanna Cosmetics. We had the pleasure of taking some time-out to ask Joanne some questions about herself and Zuanna Cosmetics.
Enjoy!
What motivated you to start Zuanna Cosmetics?
My motivation came from my own struggles with skin sensitivities and discovering how difficult it was to find pure, simplistic products that weren’t filled with unnecessary ingredients. I really wanted to create a range that people could relate to. I wanted to combine nature, simplicity and luxury while most importantly delivering results.
Where did the name come from?
Pronounced ZU-AH-NNA
The name Zuanna is Joanne (my name) in Sardinian. My family is of Sardinian heritage with both my parents having been born there and migrating to Australia in the late 1950’s, early...
We took some time this month to catch up with the Face Behind the vegan accessories brand, Mash Accessories. We had a list of questions for the sister duo brand and had the pleasure to chat with Mansi to fill us in on their journey.
‘I love to create stylish accessories and that they are VEGAN’ – Manis, Mash Accessories
Where did the name Mash Accessories come from?
The word mash came the combination for my name, Mansi and my sisters name, Shivani.
Shivani is the guiding soul behind my brand.
What gave you the motivation to start Mash Accessories?
Whenever I bought a bag from anywhere I would love to be creative and do some thread work, patch work or even painted it just to make it stand out.
A lot goes into deigning your bags, what is the most exciting part of the process?
The most...
Reducing your carbon footprint is something that many people have heard about but have no idea how to effectively implement. We’ve taken a look at some easy ways you can effectively reduce your carbon footprint and have a big impact on how the environment is affected.
Invest In Higher Quality Goods
Buying quality goods is one of the easiest ways to reduce your carbon footprint. That cushion from K-mart might be $5 but what cost does it really come at? Think about who made it, how far that item has travelled, what materials it’s been made from and how long you expect it to last. Compare that to a local handmade cushion maker who might charge $30 for their cushions. Yes it might cost more, but it will also probably last a lot longer, and has been made from ethically sourced materials and for a fair wage.
Reduce Your...

We all want our businesses to evolve and evolve in such a way that our passion for our business can be seen through our brand and products or services. Sometimes as small businesses we can feel like getting our business to evolve is a...
KNOWN EFFECTS takes some time out to chat to Martina (bottom right pic) about Grilo Protein and their business venture.
We whipped up an awesome smoothie, jared it and took some samples on an adventure through Lennox Head to some of our smoothie loving mates.
CRICKETS ?? with a strange look on everyones faces AFTER the fact that they have just told us how GOOD the smoothie was. This was the response of a handful of our health lovers. After we sat down and chatted to them about Grilo Protein and all the benefits these bugs have to our environment and bodies we had converted our foodies to add Grilo Protein into their daily life.
‘When I am finished with the powders I have, Ill be purchasing this for sure” - Ash

When you do your grocery shopping, you probably make healthy and where possible ethical choice as you choose your items. It’s certainly becoming easier to do so, with dedicated sections in many supermarkets and independent grocers for the healthy shopper.
But when it comes to Easter, sometimes we can get distracted from our usual shopping standards with the blinding sight of shiny, fun shaped, and let’s face it, the gimmicky world of Easter eggs. These days it’s not just eggs and bunnies either. You can pretty much find chocolate in any shape or form, from unicorns and frogs to dinosaurs and French bulldogs wearing sunglasses, you name it, you can find it.
When you choose your Easter eggs each year, do you check the ethical credentials of the suppliers before you buy? More often than not, because these chocolate treats are intended for...
You may feel like it’s a challenge to eat well and still eat ethically. With so much information out there about the ethical treatment of animals and people who are part of the process of getting your food from farm to plate.
Here are our top tips on how to eat well and ethically.
Eat Local Produce
The more local your produce is, the fewer miles it’s travelled to get to your plate. That means fewer food miles, fewer carbon emissions and less effort has been required to grow, harvest and transport your food.
Choose Less Packaged Foods
Processed foods are often packaged up to the nines. Often they’ll also have a low nutritional value. Eliminate unnecessary waste by choosing fresh produce that isn’t wrapped in plastic and smothered in cardboard.
Choose Fair Trade Products
By opting for Fair Trade products, you can rest...
A term often bandied about when referring to sustainable or ethical products is Fair Trade. But how many of us really know what Fair Trade is all about. We know it’s a great initiative that involves people getting a fairer deal and treatment throughout the production line, but here at Known Effects, we like to go beyond the surface of ethical initiatives, so let’s take a look at what it is and why Fair Trade really does matter.
What is Fair Trade?
Fair Trade defines their brand and mission as follows:
“Fairtrade is about stable prices, decent working conditions and the empowerment of farmers and workers around the world.”
It aims to support the development of farming and worker communities around the world. This allows them to ultimately have more control over their futures, which results in helping to protect the...
